Saving lives in the workplace

Automated External Defibrillators - more commonly known as AED's are helping to meet the challenge of providing early, crucial support to cardiac arrest victims, and increasing their chances of survival by up to 90% if a patient is attended to within the first two minutes.

Currently in England and Wales, there are no laws that state a legal requirement to provide a defibrillator, but Cannon Hygiene, the UK's leading hygiene specialists, now offer a rental service to help save lives in the workplace.

For as little as £9.99 a week an AED is available to rent and built in text and voice prompt safeguards ensure that even a user with basic training can use the unit safely and effectively.

The target time for an ambulance in the UK to reach its destination is 8 minutes, but with an AED on the premises, immediate assistance is on hand. Certain public places are at a higher risk of victims suffering attacks, including transport facilities, gyms, leisure centres and any other places where exercise could take place.

Andy Band, managing director of Cannon Hygiene and Textile Care agrees with the importance of a defibrillator in the workplace, "Every year 157,000 people die from cardiac arrest, but this could be prevented by the rental of a defibrillator in the workplace. The decision to provide a defibrillator lies with the individual organisation but when lives are at risk can you afford not to have one?"
